The Dream
We dream of a church…
-where people are free to come exactly as they are, knowing they will be accepted and loved…where “cleaning people up” is left in God’s capable hands…where the despised, skeptical, and confused are welcomed with open arms and open hearts
-where there’s freedom to doubt, question, and disagree…where there’s nothing to prove and therefore nothing to fear…where people are truly valued & respected because they are God’s treasures.
-where people find hope & healing…where relationships are restored and enriched.
-where the affluent develop a heart for the afflicted and the powerful willingly sacrifice on behalf of the marginalized...where the over-resourced gladly share with the under-resourced and neither take advantage of the other.
-where countless lives are rescued, transformed, equipped, and empowered by the love of God…where people can’t keep from talking about Christ & His church.
-where the truth that all people are in process is accepted & embraced, where people are listened to and affirmed, and a spirit of love and humility permeate all we are and all we do...where the inevitable disagreements and conflicts are settled with truth, love, grace, and a Christ-like spirit.
-where the love and grace of God is continually at work redeeming choices, relationships, attitudes, hearts, minds, and lives…where people experience the grace of God instead of just hearing about it.
-where no life is wasted and no gift unused…where participation in ministry & leadership is not limited by background, social standing, or gender.
-where compassion & justice flow freely and regularly
-where those in leadership are authentic, inspiring, and trustworthy…where the teaching is biblical, relevant, alive, and transformational…where truth is spoken in love—with restoration, wholeness, and growth as the motive.
-where there is a sense of the supernatural at work...a sense of mystery, wonder, and power...where the perceptible presence of God is not only desired but expected and normative.
This is our dream—a biblically functioning, spiritually alive, Christ-honoring community…
What do you dream of? What do you believe a church has the potential to be?
