Touch A Door, Touch A Life

Hard to believe the door-hanger campaign is already here!  I know some of you have already "taken to the streets" this week and I am amazed at your enthusiasm and commitment.  We have some hard work ahead of us in the next four weeks.  Many of you will not want to see another door-hanger for quite awhile by the time we finish this thing!  And all jokes aside, quite a few of us will "drop some pounds" in the coming days.  Many of us will get up early and stay up late to get the hangers out.  Others will walk in the heat of the day with the sun beaming down on you.  We'll have to shuffle kids and other obligations, week by week, in order to make it all happen.  It will be inconvenient.

So why do it?  Why put the hours, the sweat, and the money into these door-hangers?  It's a legitimate question.  Let me answer that with three simple words-BECAUSE PEOPLE MATTER.  People matter to God and they matter to us.  We want people to know this.  We want them to know Ridgeline is church where they can be REAL.  We want them to know that you can have a sense of humor AND be a Christian.  I know, I know, shocking! We want them to take a chance on God...to trust that he might be the answer to the questions in their soul.

We've said for the last several weeks that you're going to be placing these hangers on the doors of REAL people with REAL problems.  There will be a single mom who pulls one off her door and wonders if the people who put it there might really care enough to help her with the enormous tasks she faces each day.  There will be a man pull one off who just lost his job and is filled with more fear and anxiety than he can show his wife and children. There will be people who are in the pit of despair...people who are on the verge of divorce...people who are contemplating suicide.  There will be others still reeling from the pain of losing someone close.  And there will be some who have simply been longing for something more in life but didn't know where to look.

Right now we just see doors.  In the months to come we will see people. People with names, stories, fears, wounds, dreams, and a longing to be known and cared about.  Ultimately they will come to know that God is what they've been missing.  It matters.  It matters A LOT.  When you touch a door, ultimately, you touch a life.  And let me assure you of this...God IS with us! God really does care and he really will help us.  He wants his Church on earth to THRIVE.  He wants every human being to know and love him.  We can count on his blessing and his power as we become his hands and feet on earth.  Be encouraged!

The Bible says "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we WILL reap a harvest if we DO NOT give up."  This is truth we can stand on in the weeks to come!

Let's get it done.  See you on the streets!!!
