Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Ridgeline meet?

We meet everywhere.  We meet in homes, parks, coffee houses, restaurants, etc.   We have multiple opportunities each month for people to connect.  To find out more, click the Get Connected button or the Events button on the home page.  We also have weekly services at the Temeku Discount Theater in Temecula.

Can I come to Ridgeline stuff if I’m not a Christian?

Absolutely!  You’re the reason we’re here.  We don’t assume that people have a Christian background, knowledge of the Bible, or Christian values.  Come as you are.

What should I wear to Ridgeline groups, activities, etc.?

Wear whatever you want.  We’re interested in you, not your clothes.

Why do church in such an unconventional way?  Is there something wrong with traditional churches?

No.  There is nothing wrong with traditional churches and we’re thankful people have places to worship that meet their needs, speak their language, and share their commitments.  Unfortunately, younger generations have abandoned the traditional church.  Every generation and every culture is compelled to find ways to make the truths of Scripture accessible and communicate them in ways that people can relate to.  Our goal is to help a skeptical & disinterested generation connect with God and take steps toward a personal faith.

Why do you have a higher standard for leadership at Ridgeline?

We are committed to maintaining a culture where people are free to come exactly as they are, with no need to pretend, and explore the possibility of a relationship with God.  However, we believe that those in leadership at Ridgeline need to already be fully devoted followers of Christ.  We expect our leaders to have a lifestyle consistent with the teachings of Scripture and model the kind of transformation that should be the norm for believers.

Why do you make such a big deal out of getting into a community group?

We believe that life-change happens best in the context of relationships.  It is through relationships that we learn to trust, to believe, and to accept. It is through relationships that we demonstrate the love, grace, forgiveness, and joy of God to the world. We believe that individuals experience growth and transformation best in small groups where they are relationally connected.

In an attempt to be relevant and reach people, do you ever water-down the Bible?

No, God’s Word is our final source of authority.  The issue is that many in our day don’t know the teachings of the Bible and don’t see how it relates to life in the 21st century.  We understand that simply saying “because the Bible says…” is no longer sufficient or effective.  We strive to use language that helps people understand Scripture and provide ways for them to experience the love of God.

What denomination are you?

We're not part of any. We’re simply a body of people committed to being the church as described in the Bible. If you want to know what we believe, check out our statement of faith. We are, however, a member of the Willow Creek Association of churches. The WCA is an inter-denominational organization of thousands of churches around the world who are committed to using innovative ways to reach people who don't go to church.  We also have strategic partnerships for global impact with World Vision and International Justice Mission (IJM).  All decisions about our church are made here by Ridgeline leaders, and all of our finances go towards Ridgeline ministries. Financial oversight is accomplished by an outside Board of Directors.

Additionally, we are thrilled to partner with other churches & organizations to accomplish God’s work.  We believe that unity in the church (both locally and globally) is a supreme concern of Christ.  Anything less dishonors God and hinders his redemptive work on earth.

Will I be “put on the spot” or asked to contribute if I come to a Ridgeline group or event?

No.  You are always free to contribute, but you are also free to simply listen & observe.

What does it cost to go to Ridgeline?

Nothing. We do have offerings, but it's not for people who are checking out the church. Ridgeline is supported financially by the people who have chosen to make it their church home. We also receive financial support from outside sources who believe in the mission & vision of RCC. You won't find us trying to squeeze cash out of you every time you come to something. Giving should never flow out of compulsion or guilt.
