Why Ridgeline?
There are a number of good churches in the Temecula/Murrieta area so why start a new one? Is there anything unique or distinctive about Ridgeline? There are indeed a number of good churches in the area where many believers from the valley worship and participate. One of the things we’ve come to realize is that it’s often very hard for those not already part of a church to make a meaningful connection with existing churches. Even when a person who is not a Christian tries to take steps toward God, they often feel overwhelmed, intimidated, and confused when they enter the “church world.” The language, the people, the culture are all so different and difficult to understand. Many times the experience is discouraging and fruitless.
Ridgeline Community Church is committed to maintaining a culture that looks through the lens of someone who’s starting to explore faith but is unfamiliar with the Bible, Jesus, and the Church. We are committed to actively pursuing people who are far from God by maintaining relational networks that allow us regular opportunities to build friendships with people who are not Christians. We don’t want to simply provide a place that’s attractive & accessible for people to come and hear the claims of Christ…we want to be in their world, in their lives, listening to their concerns and questions. But when those we’re building relationships with do come to a Ridgeline event, we want to be careful to say and do things in a way that’s easy to understand for someone with no Christian background.
Additionally, when people do cross the line of faith and become followers of Christ, we want to see them empowered & developed to be difference-makers in the world. God has a purpose and plan for every life and we want people to be free to pursue their God-given potential. In fact, we expect that Ridgeliners will be engaged in the world around them. Lastly, we believe that the message of Jesus has the power to break down social barriers & distinctions that separate people and keep them from experiencing true community. We are a church where a recovering addict who’s lost their home and family sit next to a young educated business owner in a community group. We’re a church of couples and singles, high school drop-outs and business owners, minimum wage workers and law school students, recovering addicts and recovering Christians, atheists, skeptics, and everything in between. We would have it no other way. We believe that Jesus’ passion is for His church to be a place of oneness, a relational community of people becoming all that God intends. We exist to see unchurched people become fully committed and fully engaged followers of Christ.
